THANKSGIVING DAY in America is always a special occasion in our nation. For many it is a time of fellowship and family and abundant food for dinner and snacks. It is nice to be able to do that & remember the founding purpose of that day is to be a special day of thanks to God.
A lady named Mary Fairchild wrote the following Thanksgiving Day prayer:
“Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You’ve done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.”
There is so much in life to be thankful to God for--when we are careful to remember His many blessings to our lives, and maintain an attitude of gratitude to Him--we are the ones who are blessed in our spirit, soul, mind, body, strength, and emotions. God will bless grateful and thankful people. “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” --Psalm 107:1
Emie and I thank God for the privilege of serving Him in the mission’s field for over 16&1/2 years and for the privilege of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We thank God for each of you who He has touched, to be faithful partners with us and help us reach people for Jesus.
We always pray (and sometimes fast and pray)---for all of you by name who receive this newsletter. When we have received specific prayer requests we pray accordingly and have been happy to receive messages back from several of you of specifically answered prayer. In our general prayers we pray for the salvation of all your unsaved family and friends, for the Lord to bless your health and all aspects of your family, for God to bless your job, career, (and your retirement if you are retired); for His blessings and anointment on all areas of your ministries (ranging from your local church to international missions)---and we pray that God who specifically knows your greatest needs, will (as you faithfully serve Him) demonstrate to you His word in:
Matthew 19:26b “ with God all things are possible.”
The one thing we can faithfully do for you---who are partnering with us through your prayers, encouragement, and financial investments--- to help us in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ---is to offer effective & fervent prayers to God for you. We do this and always will.
Last night Emie and I attended a funeral service for a 4 year old boy. His name is Charles (Chikoy) Uy, and we have known his mother Grace since the early 1990’s when she was in High School. Her son was a healthy, happy, K-1 kindergarten student who was struck down with dengue hemorrhagic fever which is caused by a simple mosquito bite. (Last April I donated blood to one of Eternal Life’s pastor’s son named Elijah and he recovered from this same disease.) I was one of the blood donors for Chikoy but he was just not able to recover.
Chikoy was Charles Sr. and Grace’s 1st born son, and his loss was shocking and tragic. For people of the world who do not know God, there would be no hope. But at the service last night, while there was sorrow---there was hope and an assurance, that the parents and all who knew Jesus as their Savior and Lord---would most certainly one day in the future see Chikoy again. The grief was real and very much to be expected and the sadness will be there for sometime because of the loss---but all the people’s hope and trust in Christ is real and founded upon the truth. Proverbs 14:32b “..but even in death the righteous have a refuge.” Whether a person lives to be 4 or 104, life on this earth is short, and then we enter eternity---and it is where we spend eternity that counts.
Last night the Christians were able to sing---and praise and worship the Lord. There is only one real hope in this world---and His name is Jesus. That is reality. And that is why we are happy to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” ---Proverbs 11:30
In Ephesians 4:11-12 the Bible talks about how God appointed a fivefold ministry “apostles, prophets, evangelists, preachers, and teachers” for “…the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying the body of Christ.” One of the main purposes of Christian ministers is to train Christians in the church to be able to do the work of the ministry. We would like to share a praise report---that in our local church in Tacloban we are having more and more members who are becoming active in conducting Bible studies, sharing the gospel and leading people to Jesus, and being fruitful in other areas of ministry. Our children’s ministry has grown and improved significantly as a result of increased involvement from committed church members. We praise God for that.
I would like to share a testimony about the pastors of a church we pioneered in Eastern Samar in the town of Canavid. The Pastor’s of the church there are Arnel & Paz Dagami, and they have one young daughter named Micah. They have pastored there for about for about 2 years now and though the church attendance had been down to the low-teens when they took over, and the attendance is now in the upper thirties. They have an extension work on Sunday afternoons up in the hills in a village called Obong which sometimes they hire a motorcycle to go if they have a budget for that, but usually they walk for about 1&1/2 hours for 6 kilometers (about 3.7 miles) to go there. They then lead a service for 10-12 young-people they have led to the Lord and are helping them to grow in their faith.
Arnel and Paz, like many of the pastors in these more remote and poorer areas of the Philippines, work during the week to bring in extra money to support their family. (Many may recall that Paul the apostle worked as a tentmaker and other areas in several phases of his ministry). One of the things that Arnel & Paz do is use their manual sewing machines to make rugs and sell them to the people in Canavid. Eternal Life Ministries also gives them some monthly support that helps them buy a 110 lb sack of rice and some other staples, and we have also helped with medical needs. We have purchased in the past the Church lot, parsonage, and church building there so they have a permanent place to meet. While the apostle Paul worked sometimes, he also was supported by some churches at other times. He wrote to the Philippians about his appreciation for their financial help to one of his ministry outreaches. He thanked them and in Phil. 4:19 he said specifically to those who had helped his mission’s trip: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.”
Please pray for the Lord to help and bless Arnel, Paz, Micah, and the Canavid church; and pray also for us and all of the other churches God has called us to pioneer, and for the their pastors and ministry workers.
Thanks again for your prayers, encouragement, and financial investments in God’s work for the various ministry outreaches that are reaching new people for Jesus. We pray God rewards you and blesses you always.

Once again, Emie & I send you warm greetings from the Philippines---in the precious and wonderful name of Jesus. We pray that the Lord will bless you, grant you favor, and lead you to victory and success in the most important areas of your life and your service to Him.
There is still more than one quarter of this year left and though you may have experienced disappointment or roadblocks in some primary goals you had for this year---victory can still be achieved. As each of us continue to pray and seek the Lord and apply our faith with appropriate action and perseverance---each of us can experience breakthrough and fulfillment and victory.
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”---2 Chronicles 15:7
[GOD CAN TURN YOUR TEST---INTO A TESTIMONY.]
Trusting in God and lifting one another up in prayer are essential in times of spiritual warfare and opposition from the enemy. The apostle Paul was a powerful man of God but he went through many afflictions and trials and in those times he drew close to God and also expressed sincere appreciation for the intercessory prayers of others. He wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 “For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so we despaired even of life; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And [He will yet deliver us], you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many.”
In regards to prayer, Emie and I and all the ministry workers here in the Philippines, greatly appreciate your intercessory prayers for us. Prayers are the foundation for success in all of our lives and ministries. We will continue to pray for God’s strength, wisdom, hope, anointing, blessings, health, protection, rewards, and love---to overflow in your lives and ministries. God bless you always and in special ways that you never expected.
In the last part of August, Emie and I joined 3 other pastors in conducting a Saturday Marriage Seminar called “I Still Do”. It was held at a church located by the seafront, close to the provincial capital Naval on Biliran Island. It was a very nice setting to hold the seminar and most of the couples that attended were pastors from different denominations and some independent churches. The people who attended shared testimonies that they were blessed and helped by the seminar and will be bringing several members of their churches for the next seminar.
In sharing the gospel here in the Philippines, one of the hardest people to reach sometimes are people who come here to live and are from Australia, the USA, or Europe, etc. and who have had a long secular background, or have been backslidden in their faith.
We had an American neighbor named Russell White who just recently died. He was a little bit cantankerous at times with some of the people in the neighborhood, but we had been friendly to Russell. I had visited and given him an encouraging Christian booklet and shared with him about Jesus.
He had some serious lung problems and was eventually hospitalized. When we visited Russell he was in bad shape and we prayed for him and Emie asked him to pray with her the sinner’s prayer. While he had been hard to understand when he was previously speaking that night—when he prayed, he did so--loud and clear,
to ask for God’s forgiveness and ask Jesus to be his Savior and Lord. He was holding onto my hand as he prayed and he maintained a firm grip.
Emie talked to Gena who was his caretaker and she shared that after we left, some tears began to come down the side of Russell’s face, and he looked at Gena and said: “I’m not afraid to die anymore.” Three days later, Russell went to be with Jesus.
We helped with his funeral, as he had no blood relatives here or in the States who were able to be present. We were able to share the gospel at the house where his coffin was at and at the burial service---and several people prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and a few of those people are now attending our church services in Tacloban.
The Lord has opened up doors for us to minister in Bible studies at a local police outpost in Tacloban as well as in a public school downtown. New people are praying to receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord; they are also being encouraged through the teaching of the Bible. Also, we continue to have a weekly Bible study and prayer meeting with the manager and several of the staff of DYVL Radio Station where we have our weekly radio broadcast that reaches several thousand people. The Tacloban Church, Children’s Sunday school outreach is growing and improving since we were able to have one of the church member’s [Beth], who is a public school teacher, to take over as director of the classes. Also Beth and her daughter are helping out with the Saturday squatter area feeding outreach, which after more than 10 years is still reaching the urban poor children with life encouraging messages from the Word of God, and a physical meal they appreciate very much.
Thanks again for your faithful partnership in helping us share the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have said it often but will say it again, as it is an important truth----your prayers, encouragement, and financial investments in the ministry outreaches are helping new people come to know Jesus as their Savior & Lord, encouraging and strengthening Christians in their faith and walk with God, as well as helping the poor in a variety of ways. GOD GAVE HIS SON. ISSUE NO. 18 AUGUST 19th, 2008
I John 5:11 “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”
Galatians 1:4 “who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.”
Titus 2:13-14a “looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us…”
Romans 8:32 Amp. “He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?”
Dear Friends,
Emie and I send you a warm “hello” to you from the Philippines, in the name of Jesus. We pray that the Lord will edify, exhort, and encourage you in all areas of your life and service to Him. May the Lord’s best blessings overflow in your life as you faithfully serve Him. “I will bless them and the places surrounding My hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.” ---Ezekiel 34:26
All of our lives----you life and my life----came into being by the will of God. The first 5 words of the Bible are: “In the beginning God created”…and in Genesis 1:7 the word of God says: “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed life into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” Even the atheist who is spouting off his or her statements of unbelief in God---are unwittingly doing so with the very breath that God Himself breathed into their lives. Every breath they take and every breath we take---is a gift from God. The Bible says in Psalm 136:1 “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” ---and that is a good command to obey because it is His mercy and goodness that sustains our lives. Every good thing in our lives comes from the Lord and He is ever so worthy of our thanksgiving and praise.
The Scriptures at the top of the page share about the greatest investment of all time---that was made that we might have eternal life. In Mark 15:37 the Bible says: “And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.” Jesus breathed His last in order that we could have forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. The day any of us who believe in Jesus---breathe our last---it will not be the end but a new beginning. It will be graduation day and we will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus. That is good news but in the meantime---let’s do the best we can to share the gospel with new people, encourage one another in our Christian faith, and do the work that God put us on this earth to do. God gave us His best—and let us give our best in service to Him. Revelation 22:12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.”

Greetings to you in Jesus name!
I would like to share how God orchestrates people to come our way. I met a lady in the grocery store, her name is Lina. We exchanged cell phone numbers and texted each other. We scheduled to meet at Duken’s Donut shop for coffee. We both have different intentions---she is an agent of Sun Life Insurance. She offered me a policy for Sun Life Insurance. And I offered to her my “Heavenly Assurance.”
I presented to her the benefits of the Heavenly Assurance. I told her: “You can have joy, peace, fulfillment, and salvation. If you need healing the Specialist doctor will heal you for free. [I also told her] that if you need emotional healing He is there to heal and comfort you.”
As I was sharing with her she started crying…but was trying to hold back her emotion and tears. I found out from her she had been bleeding for a month…and was newly separated from her husband who has another woman. That caused her a lot of pain. I invited her to come to church the next day (Sunday), she came and
accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
After 3 days my husband and I visited her store as Lina and I had agreed. She was waiting for us, and came inside my car where we prayed and read the word of God for her. She was crying and pouring out her heart to us. Lina is now a Christian & she asked me to be her friend forever.
I thank God for her life. Please pray for her that God will heal & comfort her.

I would like to ask you to pray for the Pastors and churches we are helping to establish.
As I have mentioned in the past, most of these churches we have directly pioneered. A few we have allowed to affiliate with us so they could have fellowship with other pastors and churches and more prayer support. Many of these are the only born again Christian Church in their area. As the per capita income in the Philippines is about 4% of what it is in the states and most of these churches are located in rural areas that have a living standard below the national average, finances are a challenge in many of these churches. As a result of this we help the church pastors with some financial assistance. I have also mentioned that Region 8 where these churches are located is the least evangelized region in the Philippines with only about 1% born again when I first came here in 1992, so every church that is pioneered in un-reached areas is a great blessing. Most churches vary in attendance from 20-50, with a couple 85+, and the medium average attendance is in the mid forties. In the month of July, the total average Sunday attendance of men, women, young people, and children for all the churches was over 770 people. As mentioned in the past, the majority of these people came to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord as a result of Eternal Life Ministries Intl’s: crusades, bible studies, church services, radio broadcasts, and one on one evangelism. All of our lives----you life and my life----came into being by the will of God. The first 5 words of the Bible are: “In the beginning God created”…and in Genesis 1:7 the word of God says: “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed life into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” Even the atheist who is spouting off his or her statements of unbelief in God---are unwittingly doing so with the very breath that God Himself breathed into their lives. Every breath they take and every breath we take---is a gift from God. The Bible says in Psalm 136:1 “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” ---and that is a good command to obey because it is His mercy and goodness that sustains our lives. Every good thing in our lives comes from the Lord and He is ever so worthy of our thanksgiving and praise.
The Scriptures at the top of the page share about the greatest investment of all time---that was made that we might have eternal life. In Mark 15:37 the Bible says: “And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.” Jesus breathed His last in order that we could have forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. The day any of us who believe in Jesus---breathe our last---it will not be the end but a new beginning. It will be graduation day and we will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus. That is good news but in the meantime---let’s do the best we can to share the gospel with new people, encourage one another in our Christian faith, and do the work that God put us on this earth to do. God gave us His best—and let us give our best in service to Him. Revelation 22:12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.”

I would like to share how God orchestrates people to come our way. I met a lady in the grocery store, her name is Lina. We exchanged cell phone numbers and texted each other. We scheduled to meet at Duken’s Donut shop for coffee. We both have different intentions---she is an agent of Sun Life Insurance. She offered me a policy for Sun Life Insurance. And I offered to her my “Heavenly Assurance.”
I presented to her the benefits of the Heavenly Assurance. I told her: “You can have joy, peace, fulfillment, and salvation. If you need healing the Specialist doctor will heal you for free. [I also told her] that if you need emotional healing He is there to heal and comfort you.”
As I was sharing with her she started crying…but was trying to hold back her emotion and tears. I found out from her she had been bleeding for a month…and was newly separated from her husband who has another woman. That caused her a lot of pain. I invited her to come to church the next day (Sunday), she came and
accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
After 3 days my husband and I visited her store as Lina and I had agreed. She was waiting for us, and came inside my car where we prayed and read the word of God for her. She was crying and pouring out her heart to us. Lina is now a Christian & she asked me to be her friend forever.
I thank God for her life. Please pray for her that God will heal & comfort her.

I would like to ask you to pray for the Pastors and churches we are helping to establish.
As I have mentioned in the past, most of these churches we have directly pioneered. A few we have allowed to affiliate with us so they could have fellowship with other pastors and churches and more prayer support. Many of these are the only born again Christian Church in their area. As the per capita income in the Philippines is about 4% of what it is in the states and most of these churches are located in rural areas that have a living standard below the national average, finances are a challenge in many of these churches. As a result of this we help the church pastors with some financial assistance. I have also mentioned that Region 8 where these churches are located is the least evangelized region in the Philippines with only about 1% born again when I first came here in 1992, so every church that is pioneered in un-reached areas is a great blessing. Most churches vary in attendance from 20-50, with a couple 85+, and the medium average attendance is in the mid forties. In the month of July, the total average Sunday attendance of men, women, young people, and children for all the churches was over 770 people. As mentioned in the past, the majority of these people came to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord as a result of Eternal Life Ministries Intl’s: crusades, bible studies, church services, radio broadcasts, and one on one evangelism. There is no situation or difficulty or challenge, or problem that cannot be touched by the hand of God through prayer. Our God Is Able! What is impossible for man---is most certainly possible with God.

These are but a few testimonies in the Bible about God’s ability and willingness to bring the miraculous into the lives of His people. Abraham, Moses, and Elijah, were all men who believed and trusted in God and they were men of prayer and fellowship with the Lord. When the angel Gabriel came to see Mary and gave her a word from God that she would conceive child by the Holy Spirit and give birth to Jesus who would be called the Son of God, she responded in Luke 1:38 …“Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” She simply believed God.
There were miraculous births, provision, and deliverance for the people---given from the same God we serve today: our God Who Is Able---to do all that he promises to do. Our part is to seek the Lord’s will for our lives, obey Him, fellowship with Him, pray to Him---and believe Him. Then in regards to the areas we petition the Lord for help--God will then bring it to pass.
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” ---Luke 1:37
I just got back yesterday from a good but challenging 3 day trip to Biliran Island. During the typhoon that hit the Philippine several weeks ago, only the building (which is used for parsonage, dinning area, and children’s Sunday school) at the Culaba Church received significant damage. Its roof was destroyed and other areas received damage. I (with 3 other men) took 38 sheets of galvanized roofing (which is much cheaper in Tacloban) on the top of the old multi-cab (the only vehicle we had that was set up to carry the roofing), along with other materials, and drove to Culaba. The mountainside road crossing over to Culaba is pretty rough going and the multi-cab was not running well (somedays it will die right on the road), but we managed to barely make it over the hills and to Culaba just as it got dark. Getting there by dark was important, as there have been robberies on some of the roads recently and two gruesome murders in the past 2 months. The island goes though periods of being pretty safe and then every so often times of a high crime rate. We thanked God for a safe trip.
The next morning, which was Wednesday, I stayed until noon to see the construction started properly. They were digging holes so they could put in 6 concrete pillars on which they will place solid native wood posts on to start reconstruction of the whole building so it will be much stronger and long lasting. There were 3 volunteer church workers and a skilled carpenter and assistant. One of the volunteer workers is Josan, the teen-age boy whose life we helped save a couple of years ago when he was dying in the hospital. He still helps on the praise and worship team also.
We started traveling to another church we have on the island in the town of Caibiran. About 3 miles form town on the rocky road, our tie rod broke and on the left front tire the body collapsed upon it. I managed to get a motorcycle ride to town and found Pastor Nick. He was able to find a mechanic and they went out to where the multi-cab was broke down and was able to get it repaired enough to get to town where we had 5 welding rods of welding done to strengthen the front steering and hopefully make it strong enough to make it back to Tacloban.
We fellowshipped with Pastor Nick and his family that night and helped provide a good chicken dinner for his family of 5 kids (4 sons and a daughter) and us. The next morning we went to visit Pastora Fely at the Cabucgayan church and had breakfast with her. Then from there we traveled a few kilometers to the Church in Looc and visited Pastor Teddy’s wife Gina and their youngest kid. From there we went on to the church in Palarao, Leyte to see Pastor Rico and some of his members who were working to put a concrete floor on their church. We had provided the cement and they were supplying the sand and gravel from a nearby creek via water Buffalo and cart transportation. And finally we proceeded back home to Tacloban. I was able to pray with all the pastors we visited on this trip and the churches. They were encouraged by the visit and it was a blessing to fellowship with them. Most of them are pastoring the only Christian Church in their area
The first part of July we had missionary friends Ray & Suzie Ruddy from Australia come and visit us. They were able to minister to our local church, to the Eternal Life Ministries Int’l monthly pastors meeting, to children at our weekly feeding outreach, and they attended and ministered to The Zumarraga Island Church during their 3rd anniversary. Friends of theirs from Australia had donated enough funds to give ½ sack, (55 lbs) of rice to the pastors of all 16 churches. As rice prices have almost doubled here in the past 4 months, the pastors greatly appreciated the “Rice Blessing”. We were also given some financial help to buy materials for the Church parsonage in Culaba. All their ministry, helps, and the warm fellowship we had with Ray & Suzie---was a real blessing.

Greetings once again in the name of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. “Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.” ---Jude 2 We pray that the Lord continues to strengthen, encourage, guide, and bless you, your family, church, and ministry outreaches.
The Apostle Paul wrote many encouraging Scriptures as inspired by the Holy Spirit: He asks in Romans 8:32&33 "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things”? ---and in Philippians 4:13 he states: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The reality is that God is for us, He gave the life of His only begotten Son so we could have forgiveness of sins and eternal life---He has, does, and will---provide for all our needs as we faithfully serve Him----and He also strengthens us to help us---to do all that he has called us to do in serving Him.
There will be challenges, and issues, and opposition to various degrees in our lives and service to the Lord, but He is always with us and He will always help us. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” ---I CO 15: 57&58 (God is on your side.)
May God’s grace & mercy, love & peace, and joy—touch you today, in a real and special way.
During my ministry trip back to the States, it was a blessing to be able to share with different churches, encouraging messages from God’s word and from some of the ministry experiences in the Philippines and other areas. It was also a blessing to be able to visit and fellowship with some family and friends. I was also able to be at my Mom’s 85th birthday party (only the 3rd time I have been able to celebrate with her in the past 16 years as I am usually in the Philippines). In these relatively short trips back to the States I am not able to fellowship with all of you as I would like to, but hope we can see each other the next trip back to the States, or here in the Philippines if you come to visit.
Emie and I would like to thank all of you once again, for your much-appreciated prayers, encouragement, and help to the ministry outreaches. “Thank-you” for your friendship and partnership that is helping us lead new people to Jesus.
In returning to the Philippines, on my 5th day back here, an event happened that could have ended several of our lives. In the last week before leaving the States I had continued to be busy and was tired. The night before I flew to the Philippines I was up late doing final packing for the about 16-hour flight. Also when one arrives in the Philippine they are 15-16 hours (depending on daylight savings) ahead of us in the international dateline. Because of this I like to when possible keep the first week on a modest schedule to adjust to the time zone, etc. But the first full week back we had an important youth camp and crusade scheduled on Biliran Is.
We were to leave for the youth camp on Wednesday April 9th and on Tuesday night one of our triplet girls, Hope got a fever, diarrhea, and was also throwing up. We were up much of the night and took her to the hospital early in the morning. She had an ameba infection and had to be admitted to the hospital. We had a reliable ministry helper stay with her in the room and had to continue to prepare for the youth camp as many people were arriving at our church to get ready to travel to Biliran Island. We stopped by and visited Hope and prayed before leaving in the afternoon, and were able to keep in contact with the lady in her room and the Doctor by cell phone.
When getting ready to drive to Biliran Island that afternoon to the annual youth camp, I was already fairly tired and still had some jet lag (yet we currently have no one else who can drive the Hi-Ace van). In the front seat of our van were Emie and I and our kids Gracia and Hugh. The back part of the van was filled with many teen-agers who were going to the camp. During the 90 minute + drive there I had gotten drowsy and was going to stop to rest at a church we have in Palarao where the passengers could use the restroom, etc. The road there goes through several large hills, which have some steep drop-offs. There are also trees and some boulders on the sides of the road in places, as well as some deep ditches. Emie and the kids were sleeping in the van and people were quiet in the back, until I heard loud shouts from the back and snapped to attention just as I was veering off the road and about to impact a sign post. It was too late to do anything; we hit the post and came to a stop. Less than a mile before there were drop-offs on the side of the road which were 150-200 yards down. In this case I had fallen asleep at the wheel and driven off the road in a small open field, which had no ditch but used to have a road sign post. None of us were realy hurt and the damage to the van was moderate and after some help we were able to get back on the road and continue. This was a wake up call and a warning and I receive it as such. It may even be a word of caution in driving for some of you reading this newsletter. I also believe it is a demonstration of the power of intercessory prayer and the mercy and grace of God.
The youth camp lasted through Friday and was a very encouraging time for dozens of youth. On Friday night we held an open air crusade in town of Biliran on the island of the same name and many people prayed to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord of whom 76 signed up to receive Bibles and ministry workers will be visiting and following up with them.
We came back to Tacloban and picked up Hope & Faith who had gotten sick also and brought them home. We had kept in close contact regarding their conditions by using our cell phones. If their health condition had required it we would have immediately returned from the Youth Camp, but thank the Lord, they both got back to good health. These situations are challenging but we Thank God that all things worked out well overall.
All other areas of ministry are doing well. The churches, radio broadcasts, children’s feeding outreach, helps ministry, and discipleship training are fruitful---new people are coming to know Jesus as their Savior & Lord, and grow in their faith in God. Thanks and God bless & reward you always for helping us share the gospel of Jesus.

Greetings once again in the name of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. “Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.” ---Jude 2 We pray that the Lord continues to strengthen, encourage, guide, and bless you, your family, church, and ministry outreaches.
The Apostle Paul wrote many encouraging Scriptures as inspired by the Holy Spirit: He asks in Romans 8:32&33 "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things”? ---and in Philippians 4:13 he states: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The reality is that God is for us, He gave the life of His only begotten Son so we could have forgiveness of sins and eternal life---He has, does, and will---provide for all our needs as we faithfully serve Him----and He also strengthens us to help us---to do all that he has called us to do in serving Him.
There will be challenges, and issues, and opposition to various degrees in our lives and service to the Lord, but He is always with us and He will always help us. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” ---I CO 15: 57&58 (God is on your side.)
May God’s grace & mercy, love & peace, and joy—touch you today, in a real and special way.
During my ministry trip back to the States, it was a blessing to be able to share with different churches, encouraging messages from God’s word and from some of the ministry experiences in the Philippines and other areas. It was also a blessing to be able to visit and fellowship with some family and friends. I was also able to be at my Mom’s 85th birthday party (only the 3rd time I have been able to celebrate with her in the past 16 years as I am usually in the Philippines). In these relatively short trips back to the States I am not able to fellowship with all of you as I would like to, but hope we can see each other the next trip back to the States, or here in the Philippines if you come to visit.
Emie and I would like to thank all of you once again, for your much-appreciated prayers, encouragement, and help to the ministry outreaches. “Thank-you” for your friendship and partnership that is helping us lead new people to Jesus.
In returning to the Philippines, on my 5th day back here, an event happened that could have ended several of our lives. In the last week before leaving the States I had continued to be busy and was tired. The night before I flew to the Philippines I was up late doing final packing for the about 16-hour flight. Also when one arrives in the Philippine they are 15-16 hours (depending on daylight savings) ahead of us in the international dateline. Because of this I like to when possible keep the first week on a modest schedule to adjust to the time zone, etc. But the first full week back we had an important youth camp and crusade scheduled on Biliran Is.
We were to leave for the youth camp on Wednesday April 9th and on Tuesday night one of our triplet girls, Hope got a fever, diarrhea, and was also throwing up. We were up much of the night and took her to the hospital early in the morning. She had an ameba infection and had to be admitted to the hospital. We had a reliable ministry helper stay with her in the room and had to continue to prepare for the youth camp as many people were arriving at our church to get ready to travel to Biliran Island. We stopped by and visited Hope and prayed before leaving in the afternoon, and were able to keep in contact with the lady in her room and the Doctor by cell phone.
When getting ready to drive to Biliran Island that afternoon to the annual youth camp, I was already fairly tired and still had some jet lag (yet we currently have no one else who can drive the Hi-Ace van). In the front seat of our van were Emie and I and our kids Gracia and Hugh. The back part of the van was filled with many teen-agers who were going to the camp. During the 90 minute + drive there I had gotten drowsy and was going to stop to rest at a church we have in Palarao where the passengers could use the restroom, etc. The road there goes through several large hills, which have some steep drop-offs. There are also trees and some boulders on the sides of the road in places, as well as some deep ditches. Emie and the kids were sleeping in the van and people were quiet in the back, until I heard loud shouts from the back and snapped to attention just as I was veering off the road and about to impact a sign post. It was too late to do anything; we hit the post and came to a stop. Less than a mile before there were drop-offs on the side of the road which were 150-200 yards down. In this case I had fallen asleep at the wheel and driven off the road in a small open field, which had no ditch but used to have a road sign post. None of us were realy hurt and the damage to the van was moderate and after some help we were able to get back on the road and continue. I pray for God’s heavenly blessings upon you and for His provision, protection, and fresh strength and anointing for you. May you truly long enjoy all the work of your hands that is for the Lord.
God guarantees that your labor for Him will not be in vain. When you faithfully call upon the Lord and seek to fulfill His directions and call upon your life---God will bring it to pass.
We once again would like to express our appreciation and thanks to all of you ,for your (eternal) life changing help to many people. Your prayers, exhortation, and financial investments for the ministry outreaches--- are bringing people to Jesus. We continue to pray and believe that the Lord will always reward you.
I am on my way back to the States today and will be there for all the month of March and be ministering to some churches and ministry teams. This is my 1st time home in 2 years. Emie was with me in Manila for a couple of days and returned to Tacloban today with one of our longtime church members, whose husband is an architect and flew today to the Hongkong where he will be working for a construction firm. Emie will be working in all areas of Eternal Life Ministries’ outreaches in the Philippines and also helping take care of our children. Hopefully she will come over in the next trip to the States and we will have qualified people to oversee all areas of responsibility in the Philippine while we are gone. Emie misses seeing you and is looking forward to fellowshipping with you in God’s timing.
As I am writing this section of the newsletter I am sitting in an airport in Japan. I left Manila at 8:00 a.m. this Friday the 22nd of Feb. and with the flying and the layover, will travel for about 16 hours and am scheduled to arrive in Seattle Friday the 22nd of Feb. at 7:35 am----25 minutes earlier than when I left Manila because of the way the international time zones work. I always find that odd but the one thing about it, if you had a bad day, you get to start it all over again and hopefully it will be a good one the 2nd time around.
We have had a busy and productive in the ministry this month. (By the way, I am now flying from Japan to Seattle, WA.) On February 5-7 the pastors from the 16 churches came to our home and missions compound in Tacloban for our monthly ministry & leadership meetings. New people have received Jesus as Savior and Lord at several of the churches. The same week several people were saved when we held 5 evening evangelistic meetings at the funeral services of a member’s mother.
We are continuing to be contacted by people who are receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord through our weekly Radio broadcasts throughout Region 8. And while it is a secular radio station we are having Bible studies with the manager and many of the employees every Wednesday morning, the regular attendees have all become Christians. Also on Friday, Feb. 8th of that week we drove the 3 hour RT drive to the Abuyog prison where we ministered to a prison congregation of Christian believers, the majority of whom have received Jesus as their Savior and Lord in Prison. These men are mostly maximum security prisoners but they have come to love and worship the Lord. We meet in a dirt floor building there and when they praise God you really feel the special presence of the Lord there. They have shared with us that they really appreciate our sermons and ministry to them.
On last Friday the 15th Emie & I were allowed to have a ministry time with many of the employees at the Tacloban City water department and several people received Jesus as Savior & Lord in that meeting. One lady asked if we would visit her family. We did and on Sunday the family came to our Tacloban church and the husband gave his life to Jesus at the alter call along with 3 other people. God is moving and in the ministry outreaches of Eternal Life Ministries and we praise God for the new people are being saved.
This is truly an intercontinental newsletter as I am now in Chehalis, WA. while finishing the last part of this message. (It is the 1st time I had a laptop computer with me on a flight.) When Jesus said: Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mk 16:15---I think He meant what He said, just like when He said in---Acts 1:8b “..and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
When we work as a team in missions (under the Biblical principle; of ‘some go and some help send’ Rom. 10:13-15---we as a team are helping do our part---to fulfill God’s call for us to preach the gospel and be witnesses for Jesus on the city-wide, nation-wide, cross-cultural, and global areas on this earth. It is our prayer that in the days, weeks, months, years, and decades to come---that God will continue to use all of us as a team---to more and more effectively preach the gospel, make disciples, and help the poor. We will always continue to thank-you for your partnership in the ministry, because your help---is helping us to lead more people to Jesus.

But while he was never there physically, he wrote in Co. 2:5 “For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.” While a few of you have been with us personally in the Philippines, many of you may never be in the Philippines physically---but although being thousands of miles away physically---we have felt you being with us in spirit in many of the crusades, seminars, church services, and ministries to the poor. Thanks again for your faithful partnership. We pray the Lord’s blessings will overflow in your lives as you help us in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Please pray for the Lord to touch the hearts of able and willing people to give as led by the Holy Spirit some special gifts to the ministry. Dear Friends,
Emie and I, our children, and the Filipino ministry teams send you our warm greetings to you this Christmas and New Year. May the Lord give you a wonderful Christmas as you focus on Him, and powerfully bless your New Year as you seek anew His guidance and direction for 2008. “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” Ps 37:5
There are many gifts that will be given and received this Christmas; there will be family gatherings, good meals, and much activity. There are many emotions on Christmas; some people are happy, some are stressed out with all the activity, some are lonely. But when one begins to: “focus your eyes upon Jesus”---as the song says, “the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
When we simply and honestly focus----on the greatest and most priceless gift ever given---God touches our hearts and minds with His love, His peace, and His joy. “And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the Inn.” Lk 2:7 Even though we are very familiar with the events of Jesus’ birth, it is still truly amazing that the Creator of heaven and earth, when He came to this earth on a rescue mission (to save our lives), was born in a manger---because there was no room elsewhere for Jesus. If Jesus were to knock on someone’s door tonight and ask to spend the night what would be the responses of different people? Some people might say, “well ok, but we have a pretty full house---so would You like the cot or the couch?” But others would say: Wow! Yes of course. We have a full house but you can have our master bedroom, and we will sleep on the hide-abed, cot or whatever. We are honored and You are welcome in our house.”
Well, Jesus says in Revelation 3:20: “”Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with Him and he with Me.” Jesus knocks on the door of every Christian’s heart and invites us to fellowship with Him. When He knocks on your door of your heart or mine, let’s give Him the best meal in the house (not the leftovers), and the master sweet (not the cot) if He is spending the night. Let’s give God our best---because He gave us His best

Last night we took a 19-month-old baby girl named Erica to the hospital. Her parents
Jury & Arilina are Christians from a small island village that has no doctor. While their daughter had never been sick before, she now had a fever and cough that was not going away. They had only minimal medication on the island and it was not helping. Another problem they had was that they were poor and had no budget to cover the needed medical treatment available in the City.
We received a cell phone text message 2 days ago about their problem and told them to bring their daughter to Tacloban on the 1st available boat trip. We took them and Erica to a baby doctor and found out she had acute phenomena. We were able to get her checked into a local government hospital and bought the medicine needed for treatment. We have prayed for and are continuing to pray for her healing---and also as mentioned, trying to provide proper medical attention that will assist in hopefully---saving her life. (While writing this newsletter I asked Emie to text Jury to see how Erica is doing. We just received a reply after writing this section, that she is improving.) We will visit her later today.

You have received a new family picture with this Christmas newsletter. In most newsletters I talk mostly about the ministry outreaches and only a little about family. [I will simply share that all areas of ministry are doing well over all. The radio broadcast, churches, children & youth ministries, & evangelistic outreaches are reaching new people for Jesus, Christians are being strengthened and encouraged in their faith, the poor are being helped in a variety of ways in the name of Jesus.] As many people send out a family letter on Christmas I would like to share in this newsletter a little more about our 6 children and how they came into our lives.
In the picture at the top, left to right is Gordon, Emie, & Nonoy (20); middle: the triplets---Faith, Joy, & Hope (2); bottom: Hugh (6) & Gracia (9).
Nonoy (Jean-Paul): is Emie’s nephew and when he was 7 months old his mother left him and his father Tony (Emie’s brother). When Nonoy was 1 year and 4 months old Emie came and visited her brother and him for 3 days. During that time there was a love & bonding between Nonoy and Emie and upon her departure Nonoy was crying. Her brother Tony (a professional musician) asked Emie if she could take care of Nonoy and she said yes and since that time taken care of him as her own son. Nonoy was 5 when Emie and I were married and is now studying at Bible college in Cebu, is a very good Christian Musician, and was recently assigned to pastor a church in Cebu on the weekends.
Gracia: (some excerpts from Emie’s testimony letter to the department of social services) {We were requested one Sunday by 3 young boys to visit their home as requested by their mother…the boys ushered us into their little house made of Nipa and Bamboo. We saw the mother laying on the dirty looking mat, (she) was skin and bone, dying with her baby girl Maria who was also dying of disease.<> I was sad and moved with compassion to see their poor and pitiful condition. The mother talked to me with tears in her eyes saying, “I am dying, please, I have no one to trust my baby. I will give her to you, please take care of my baby.” With tears in my eyes I assured her that I will take good care of your child and we will take you both to the hospital.” We rushed them immediately to the City Hospital, but she died in the arms of her eldest son. The doctor declared her dead on arrival. We helped the family with all the things they needed for the funeral and burial.}
Maria we took to a baby specialist and she was confined in a hospital for 8 days. She had been diagnosed as 3rd degree malnourished (she was 1 year & 3 mo. Old, and weighed 10.3 pounds) she also had TB, phenomena, scabies, and worms. With much prayer and help from the doctor and medicine, the child recovered from her critical condition. Gracia (Maria) is now 9 years old, energetic, sociable, she loves the Lord, and loves to sing and dance. We changed her name from Maria to Gracia, because truly only by God’s grace she survived.}
Hugh: Emie and I received Hugh when her was one month and 16 days old, after his mother decided to give her child to a Christian family because of poverty. Her husband had left her and abandoned her with her 3 little children when she was pregnant. Hugh is named after my father. He is an active young 6-year-old boy, can learn quickly when he applies himself, and has an artistic ability to draw well, and can sing well. Both Hugh and Gacia can pray well, and even pray for blessings upon all of you who are ministry partners as I have taught them to do so.
The triplets: Faith, Hope, and Joy: Wow! Emie had received a phone call in Nov of 2005 from some other adoptive parents and asked if she would like to adopt more babies. Emie replies: “you mean another baby?” The lady said no, I mean babies—triplet girls. The mother died giving birth and some of us other adoptive parents offered to each take one, but the govt. does not want to seem them broken up but hope to find someone to adopt all 3. <>This is not a minor decesion, it required prayer. The girls were having some health problems and the govt. wanted to see that they were healthy before they were sent to a willing family. A few weeks after the phone call Emie was visiting a lady who was sick in the EVRMC hospital and when visiting her, was informed that 2 of the triplets were there in the hospital. Emie wrote about that day: “Out of curiosity I decided to visit them. I was ushered into their room and I saw them laying, sickly looking twins” (these two are the identical ones out of the three.) “I found out they had been hospitalized for more than a month already. I cuddled one of the identicals who was at that time awake. When she was in my arms she talked to me (baby talk) but I was touched while she was talking—the message I got in my spirit is this: ‘Please take me home.’ I prayed for them, and went home. But their pitiful faces were in my mind. I called my husband who was in the States at that time and we prayed. Two weeks before Gordon’s arrival he agreed to take the triplets to our home.”
They are now 2 years and 3 months old and Emie and I have can say they are very energetic, a great blessing as are the other kids. Emie describes the triplets as follows: “Faith is the singer among the three. She loves to eat, likes to climb and dance, and she will probably be a good cook in the future because she loves to be in the kitchen and is very observant when someone is cooking. Hope is very affectionate, but is a warrior, and also the peacemaker among the three. She is a hugger and worshipful. She comforts someone if they are crying.
Joy is like her name--joyful, she is humorous but sensitive and can easily get offended. She is very organized. She loves to arrange messy thing and she wants her toys to be in good shape and takes good care of them. She is very observant and sociable and also likes to keep herself looking beautiful each day.”
We have six children of whom many could have ended up in an orphanage, but by the love of God they are in our home. They are our God given children. We teach those who are old enough to pray for you, please pray them, and for Emie and me, and that we will have the wisdom and strength to raise them well and to love and serve the Lord.
Please pray for the 16 churches we have helped establish, and that many more churches will be pioneered, and thousands of more people come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord through Eternal Life Ministries Int’l outreaches. Dear Friends,
Emie and I, our children, and the Filipino ministry teams send you our warm greetings to you this Christmas and New Year. May the Lord give you a wonderful Christmas as you focus on Him, and powerfully bless your New Year as you seek anew His guidance and direction for 2008. “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” Ps 37:5
There are many gifts that will be given and received this Christmas; there will be family gatherings, good meals, and much activity. There are many emotions on Christmas; some people are happy, some are stressed out with all the activity, some are lonely. But when one begins to: “focus your eyes upon Jesus”---as the song says, “the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
When we simply and honestly focus----on the greatest and most priceless gift ever given---God touches our hearts and minds with His love, His peace, and His joy. “And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the Inn.” Lk 2:7 Even though we are very familiar with the events of Jesus’ birth, it is still truly amazing that the Creator of heaven and earth, when He came to this earth on a rescue mission (to save our lives), was born in a manger---because there was no room elsewhere for Jesus. If Jesus were to knock on someone’s door tonight and ask to spend the night what would be the responses of different people? Some people might say, “well ok, but we have a pretty full house---so would You like the cot or the couch?” But others would say: Wow! Yes of course. We have a full house but you can have our master bedroom, and we will sleep on the hide-abed, cot or whatever. We are honored and You are welcome in our house.”
Well, Jesus says in Revelation 3:20: “”Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with Him and he with Me.” Jesus knocks on the door of every Christian’s heart and invites us to fellowship with Him. When He knocks on your door of your heart or mine, let’s give Him the best meal in the house (not the leftovers), and the master sweet (not the cot) if He is spending the night. Let’s give God our best---because He gave us His best

Last night we took a 19-month-old baby girl named Erica to the hospital. Her parents
Jury & Arilina are Christians from a small island village that has no doctor. While their daughter had never been sick before, she now had a fever and cough that was not going away. They had only minimal medication on the island and it was not helping. Another problem they had was that they were poor and had no budget to cover the needed medical treatment available in the City.
We received a cell phone text message 2 days ago about their problem and told them to bring their daughter to Tacloban on the 1st available boat trip. We took them and Erica to a baby doctor and found out she had acute phenomena. We were able to get her checked into a local government hospital and bought the medicine needed for treatment. We have prayed for and are continuing to pray for her healing---and also as mentioned, trying to provide proper medical attention that will assist in hopefully---saving her life. (While writing this newsletter I asked Emie to text Jury to see how Erica is doing. We just received a reply after writing this section, that she is improving.) We will visit her later today.

PSALM 25:14 LB “Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him. With them alone He shares the secrets of His promises.”
Webster’s Dictionary: Reverence: “A feeling of profound respect often mingled with awe and affection.”
JOHN 15:13-17 NKJ “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I call you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made know to you. You did not choose Me but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.”

Hi. Emie and I would like to send warm greetings once again to each of you. We continue to pray for the Lord to bless, edify, and encourage you---in all areas of your life and service to Him. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” ---ISAIAH 41:10
David starts out in Psalm 124: “If the Lord had not been on our side” ---and then he describes some dire consequences that would have resulted---“if the Lord had not been on our side.” David goes on to write in verses 7&8: We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Many centuries have passed since that Psalm was written and a lot of changes have taken place. But one thing has not changed----(Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever)---and He is still on our side---He is for us. The Creator of heaven and earth loves us and He helps us.
There are so many things to be thankful to God for. You will have already celebrated our Thanksgiving Day celebration prior to receiving this newsletter. In America that is a nice time for family and friends to get together for good food and fellowship. Many people do give thanks to God on that day. But as Christians, Thanksgiving Day can be a 365 day event each year +1 on leap year. “that my heart may sing to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give You thanks forever.”

As we approach the end of the year and reflect on the past 10 & 2’3s months of ministry, many positive things have happened. People’s lives have been saved spiritually as well as physically. Just last month the son of one of our church members who has a failing kidney was in critical condition in the hospital. Andrew was delirious and tied to his hospital bed. We prayed for him and also were able to help provide some finances for the dialysis machine treatment. Andrew was in church last Sunday and is in his right mind and doing much better.
Also we had 4 Christian guests from Mindanao come and spent 5 days with us, so that 2 of them Roy 20 & Mylene 17, could receive free operations for Heir-lip and other problems. We co-ordinate with another Christian group that provides the operation and we help with arranging for the operation, some transportation, housing at our home, and other areas as needed. Both these young people were very happy to have received the corrective surgery.
Throughout this year people have been being saved, discipled, and given various helps such as medicine, cloths, food, and other areas of help. Also several people have been prayed for and received direct healing from the lord. There have been people who were discouraged and felt
like giving up yet they have been encouraged and restored through the sharing of the gospel and
prayer for God to intervene in their lives.
For the elderly retired Sunday school teacher (Nanay Machado), who has neither pension nor social security in the Philippines---we have been able to give her some financial assistance on a monthly basis as the Lord touched one person’s life to help her. A moderate amount help by our countries standards is a big help to Nanay and she greatly appreciates it. We hope to help more retired ministry workers in the Philippines and other nations in the months and years to come, as the Lord directs and provides.

Greetings to you from the bottom of my heart! Like Paul---he longed to see his brethren in Rome while he was in prison; I also long to see all of you and fellowship with you and we can encourage each other in the faith. It has been 6 years now since I have been back to the States. I already miss all of my friends and all of you who are continually partnering with us to make the ministry possible. Without your prayers and financial support we can’t accomplish great things in the ministry.
Three weeks ago I was invited to preach at the “Woman’s Conference” at the Baptist group at San Isidro, Northern Samar. It took me 7 hours to travel there by van. The road is really bad. The ladies were blessed and this is my 2nd time to speak to one of their Northern Samar conferences.
I was also able to visit my old church members in San Isidro since this is the place I pioneered a Faith Tabernacle church in 1985. I invited them to come to the conference and they came. I am very happy to see them growing in their faith & doing the Lord’s ministry. My prayer is that all our labor in the Lord will be fruitful and not be in vain.
My prayer for all of you is that God will answer every desire of your heart.

During this Thanksgiving Day week, we would like to again express our appreciation and thanks to each of you who are partnering with us to help reach people for Jesus. Your prayers, for us and the ministry, your encouragement, and financial investments in helping us share the gospel of Jesus Christ is resulting in many people coming to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord. We believe God to reward you in many special ways for all your help. The apostle Paul wrote a thank-you letter to the Philippians and in regards to their mission’s help to him in sharing the gospel, and then he wrote in Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.”

HEBREWS 9:12 “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once and for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”
Redeemed (padah, Neh. 1:10) Liberate, free, release.
Redeemed (ga’al, Is. 52:9) Repurchase, buy back.

Dear Friends,
Warm greetings to you all. Emie and I continue to pray for God’s powerful blessings upon your life. May God soon grant you breakthrough in important areas that you have been petitioning Him in prayer for some time. JUDE 1B&2 “To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ: mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance.”
People sometimes struggle with a sense of low self-esteem and self-worth. In those circumstances, it would be good for us all to remember the One who created heaven and earth, Who is all wise and all knowing---and look at the value that He places on each of us. God redeemed us, and He doesn’t make mistakes. You are very valuable in the eyes of the Lord.

Hello! It is our prayer that God will continue to bless you and guide you all the days of your life. We trust God to do great things in your life and to your loved ones and friends.
About us, God has done so much for us that I cannot tell it all, but I would like to share the fresh update of our ministry. As a worker of God’s kingdom, I always pray for fruitfulness and increase in our ministry and God has done so. The kingdom of God is advancing in our local ministry.
But sometimes I get frustrated and discouraged because some of the people we minister to departed and went to the big cities looking for greener pastures (Jobs, etc.) But my prayer is that the Lord will increase in their lives and become fruitful wherever they may be.
Last week I received a long distance phone call from a young lady (Josalyn), and I never recognized her voice at first because she has been away for more than 5 years. She said: “I only have 3 minutes on my phone card, but I want to grab this opportunity to say THANK YOU…for teaching me the Word of God and His way. Now I am working as a fulltime worker in the church here in Palawan. God is now using me to the music ministry and to lead other people to the Lord. Thank-you pastor! I never forget what you’ve done in my life. Love you! Bye.”
The call really encourages me, with tears in my eyes I was reminded of the verse in: I Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” We are sometime visited by discouragement, but the word of God in Ecclesiastes talks about not giving up in planting seed (the Word of God). Ecclesiastes 11:6 “In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper…”
Last August 29th, I was invited to preach to a group of High School teachers under the social studies department. To my surprise the principal the supervisor, and the head teachers of two departments were also there. They received Jesus as their Savior & Lord. My prayer to God is that these people will continue to seek God and to trust Him fully.
This week one of our radio broadcast listeners died (He had received Jesus as his Savior and Lord when he listened to one of our messages on the radio. But he had a serious health problem in regards to his heart). We had the opportunity to share the gospel to the families and friends in his neighborhood. We had 22 new converts sign up for a regular Bible study every Sunday afternoon. (Four of them attended our worship service Sunday.)
Thank-you very much for your continued prayer for us and for God’s ministry. I know that your prayer and your financial help you render to us will be rewarded. Because in: 2 Chronicles 15:7 it says: “But you be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.” 2 John v8 “look to yourselves that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.”
My friend, I thank God for allowing you and I to work for his company, it is an honor to serve Him
and work for Him. My prayer is that we will not lose heart in doing good. Let us continue to follow and serve Him with the best of our life. God bless you.

I mentioned in last newsletter about Pastor James Mabwa (a former street kid) from Kenya, Africa who was working with us in several areas of ministry. We drove him to the church we pioneered in Culaba on Biliran Island, to minister on a Saturday evening for an interdenominational youth rally and also the Sunday morning service there. He was used by God to be a great blessing.
It is almost a three hour drive there and I was tired that evening when I was informed there was up to possibly 30-40 youth located several miles down the road who needed a ride. There is not large public transportation available that time of the night in that remote area. Also the people in charge of arranging private truck transportation had not been successful partly due to not asking early enough.
I was really tired, the back tires on the van are worn, the road was really bad where they wanted to go, and my van will hold nowhere near 40 people, so it might involve making 2 or more trips and I was not in the mood to go and risk getting a flat tire out in the middle of a remote area at night. I asked them to continue to try to find a big truck to rent but when none was available I decided to go with one of the pastors and go to try to provide transportation as I felt perhaps the people waiting were the ones that most needed to hear Pastor James’ messages and be prayed for.
The first location we found that the ones who wanted to go had rented motorcycles to travel to the church. We continued to the more distant location, on a road that was really bad with a lot of sharp rocks. Finally as we rounded a corner on a dark and moonless night with no electrical lighting anywhere, off to the right our headlights shined on a group of Filipino young people and their Pastora, sitting in the dark. They had been sitting there for some time and praying that somehow God would provide for them transportation. I counted them and there were 12 overjoyed people there. Adding the pastor who rode with me, we totaled 14 people, who made the full van, but it was manageable.
When I saw them sitting in the dark, waiting---I realy thanked God that I made to effort to get them. We made it to the church with no flat tires and back again after the service. They were really blessed at the service.
I share this testimony, because sometimes all of us are tired and weary, but when we make a good faith effort to obey and serve God, to go the extra mile so to speak (in my case the 2 roundtrips added about 1 &1//3rd hours of extra driving) we can see great blessings for making the effort. They really wanted to hear God’s word.
While we can only share a few things in the ministry at a time with a short newsletter, there are always every month many new salvations. People are strengthened in their faith; the poor are helped in the name of Jesus. We thank God for the souls saved and we send you our sincere thanks and appreciation for your important and helpful partnership with us through your prayers and financial investments in God’s work through these ministries.
God bless you for helping us lead people to Jesus. We continue to pray for God’s blessings upon you, your families, churches, and ministries.

I share this testimony, because sometimes all of us are tired and weary, but when we make a good faith effort to obey and serve God, to go the extra mile so to speak (in my case the 2 roundtrips added about 1 &1//3rd hours of extra driving) we can see great blessings for making the effort. They really wanted to hear God’s word.
While we can only share a few things in the ministry at a time with a short newsletter, there are always every month many new salvations. People are strengthened in their faith; the poor are helped in the name of Jesus. We thank God for the souls saved and we send you our sincere thanks and appreciation for your important and helpful partnership with us through your prayers and financial investments in God’s work through these ministries.
God bless you for helping us lead people to Jesus. We continue to pray for God’s blessings upon you, your families, churches, and ministries.

"Our Hope" July 21, 2007 - Philippines for Jesus
PSALM 31:24 “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”
PSALM 43:5 “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.”
HEBREWS 6:18-19 “God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie,
We who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as a secure anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
ROMANS 15:4 “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scripture we might have hope.”
Word Wealth: Hope (elpis) Hope, not in the sense of an optimistic outlook or wishful thinking without any solid foundation, but in the sense of confident expectation based on certainty. Biblical hope rests on God’s promises, particularly those pertaining to Christ’s return. So certain is the future of the redeemed that the NT sometimes speaks of future events in the past tense.

WE WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND THANKS TO EACH OF YOU WHO ARE PARTNERING WITH US IN REACHING PEOPLE FOR JESUS-----On behalf of the pastors and members of 16 churches Eternal Life Ministries is helping to establish, and the street and squatter area children we have fed and shared the gospel with over the years, on behalf of the people who have heard the gospel preached in a variety of ways and the many who received Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and on behalf of many poor adults and children who have received food, clothing, medical and other help, and also been shared the gospel of Jesus Christ---- literally on the behalf of several thousands of people through the years----Thank-You and God Bless You in many special ways. “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown towards His name, in that you have ministered to His saints and do minister.” ---Hebrews 6:10 Your prayers, encouragement, and financial investments in helping share the gospel; has been and is very important to the fruitfulness of the ministry outreaches, and is really appreciated.
Do you ever talk to yourself? I’ve heard some people say that talking to yourself is okay but be careful not to answer. However in the second Scripture on the top of the page not only is the Psalmist asking himself a question, but also he is answering himself so-to-speak. It is basically the spirit of the man encouraging his own soul to stop looking at the circumstances and start looking to God. All the top verses deal with hope---the real hope we can have in all situations and circumstances when we put our trust and confidence in God.
The verses point to a personal and loving God---who knows each of us---who really loves us----and is totally able and willing to help us in all areas of our lives. There are troubles in this world, and at times in each of our lives we will face some challenges. There is an old secular saying that when the going gets tough---the tough get going, but as a Christian I would have to say that when the going gets tough---the wise---go to God, and partner with Him. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. –Isaiah 41:10 God will give you the victory.
We gave 51 meals to squatter area children and a few poor adults this morning.
These Saturday feeding outreaches are much appreciated by the children. Most all of them have prayed to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. They sing songs of praise and worship, learn from stories in the Bible, and learn how to pray to the Lord for His help in their lives. This is a simple outreach, but they really look forward to gathering together and several of the kids really expressed thanks after receiving their food. “…Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for such is the kingdom of God”…Jesus “And He took them in His arms and laid His hands on them, and blessed them.” Mark 10:14b&16
I remember the songs I learned in Sunday school, “Jesus Loves the Little Children” and “Jesus Loves Me This I Know—For the Bible tells me so---Little ones to Him belong----They are weak, but He is strong.” I used to enjoy singing them as a child and knew in my heart they were true. Many of us enjoyed those songs and still do--and while we think of physically aged children when we hear these songs---it is also good to also remember, that even if we all live to be over 100 years old, we also---are still His kids, and He loves us, and He is strong.
“…I will never leave you nor forsake you.”---Jesus Hebrews 13:5b
We had 2 excellent conferences this week in Tacloban and had the pastors and some church workers from most of the 16 churches we are helping to establish come to attend. The first was a 2-day conference on Hermeneutics and Homiletics by Dr. Roy Verosa from Cebu. The second was given by Pastor Wayne Young from Florida. Both seminars were a blessing to those who attended in regards to being better equipped to interpret and preach and teach the Bible, and were also a time of strengthening and encouragement.
Earlier this month we were able to spend some time in ministry and fellowship with friends from California, Missionary/Evangelists: John and Glenda Marks. They came to evangelize and minister encouraging messages to different churches and were a blessing to many people in Leyte. Please pray for God’s blessings upon them and Dr. Roy Verosa, and Pastor Wayne Young.
During this 17th year of ministry in the Philippines and in other nations the Lord opens to us, please continue to pray for God to grant us wisdom, knowledge, fresh anointing, and clear vision for us---so we can be the most effective in all areas of ministry. Please also pray for God to give us strength, excellent health, and provide the finances needed to effectively do all the ministry outreaches He has called us to do. Prayer is the foundation for success in sharing the gospel and strengthening and encouraging the body of Christ. Genuine and committed prayer brings positive results. Your prayers are important.
“…The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails (accomplishes) much.”---James 5:16b
We thank God for the privilege of sharing the gospel and seeing new people continuing to come to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord; seeing people’s lives transformed by the Lord’s love and power; to see the poor helped in various ways as led by the Holy Spirit. We pray often for God to bless you, your families, and churches. Thanks again for helping us lead people to Jesus. We always trust God to reward you.
